Privacy policy

Last updated October 22, 2026

The short version: the Boring Remote app doesn't collect any information about you. There's no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. On the App Store its privacy label is "Data Not Collected".

The app

What stays on your iPhone

The app keeps your rooms, the TVs you've added, their names and network addresses, and the pairing keys your TVs hand out when you tap Allow. All of this stays on your iPhone. We never receive it.

Your local network

iOS asks for permission to find devices on your local network. Boring Remote uses it to find your TVs and send them button presses. Those messages go straight from your iPhone to your TV over your Wi-Fi. They don't pass through any server of ours, because we don't have one.

Apple Home

If you use Pro to turn TVs on through Apple Home, the app asks for Home access and uses it only to switch on the TVs you pick. Your Home data stays with Apple and on your devices.

Purchases

Pro is bought through Apple. Apple handles the payment and tells the app only whether Pro is unlocked. We never see your name, email or card details.

Crash reports

If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may pass us anonymous crash reports. You can turn that off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.

This website

boringremote.app counts page visits so we know whether anyone is reading it. It uses Polyology's own cookie-less counter, which stores daily totals and a one-way hash that changes every day, never IP addresses, and skips browsers that send Do Not Track. It also uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies or track you across sites. Amazon Web Services hosts the site. If you email us, we use your message only to reply.

Children

The app collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Questions go to contact@polyology.co. Boring Remote is made by Polyology. The Polyology privacy policy covers our other products.
