How to cancel a TV remote app subscription on iPhone
A lot of TV remote apps start with a free trial that turns into a weekly charge. Deleting the app doesn't stop it. You have to cancel the subscription in your Apple Account. Here's how, and it takes about a minute.
Cancel in Settings
- Open Settings on your iPhone. Tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions. You will see every subscription billed to your Apple Account, active and expired.
- Tap the remote app. Check the price and the next renewal date.
- Tap Cancel Subscription. Confirm. If the button is missing, the subscription is already cancelled.
You can also do it from the App Store app: tap your picture in the top right, then Subscriptions.
Things worth knowing
- Deleting the app doesn't cancel. The charge keeps coming until you cancel in Subscriptions.
- Cancel at least 24 hours before it renews. Apple renews subscriptions up to a day early.
- Free trials count too. If you cancel during a trial, you won't be charged, though some apps end the trial right away when you cancel.
- You keep what you paid for. After cancelling, the app usually keeps working until the end of the week or month you were charged for.
- Charged on a family member's phone? If you use Family Sharing, the organizer sees purchases, but each person cancels their own subscriptions on their own device.
Ask for a refund
If you were charged for something you didn't mean to keep, ask Apple. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, choose "Request a refund", pick the reason and select the charge. Apple decides, but it's worth asking, especially for a charge right after a trial ended.
On Android
Open the Google Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions. Pick the app and tap Cancel subscription.
